17.4 Agility competitions in Jyväskylä, the first one was judged Vesa Sivonen, I was los twice so with 20 we made it (there were some good parts in between). The second one was judged by Elina Viitaniemi, nice run with the 15 fifteen obstacles, then some misunderstanding brought us 15.

26.3. Agility competitions in Jyväskylä, judged by Minna Jokisaari. 2 X disq (some people just never learn). There were lots of disqs, so we were not the only ones. With the last runI thought we made a clear run, but two times contact faults (first time in her life),  0 10, other wise perfect run!

Foto is taken in November from our competition in our agility hall in Jyväskylä

10.3. Agility competitions in Varkaus, judged by Johanna Nyberg. Nice courses with lots of sharp turns. The first one was beatiful other than I had to be too hasty and Kiila knocked one bar. With the 5 we were the second. Next run - not so beautiful - 20.

19.2. Jinga is having kennel cough, hopefully it will not last long, sounds bad.

18.2. Agility competition in Jyväskylä. Nice courses with lots of running designed by Minna Räsänen. We made pretty nice runs (much nicer than last weekend with the same results). On the first one we got disq, since Kiila took the closest end of the tunnel after the weaves, I was also once on the wrong side of my dog, but otherwise a beautiful run. On the second run, I was lost once, Kiila dropped bars (because I was shutting her way when she was jumping towards me), she also made a mistake with weaves (she goes in from the correct entrance but then she misses the next weave).

6-8.1 We spent a weekend skiing in north eastern Finland, in Vuokatti, Jinga enjoying snow shoe walking

The year 2012 started with the snowy conditions, we have been enjoying it. The last autumn was perfect regarding our agi training, twice a week all the time since September. Hopefully it will countinue the same way this year.

26-27.11. Kiila competed in Jyväskylä. On Saturday the judge, Johanna Wütrich had courses with nice flow. On the first one Killa dropped one bar (I turned her too fast for the next jump), in the next one I did not guide her clearly enough to one of the jumps, that course was 5 as well. It was a nice start after beeing away from competitions for more than a year. On Sunday Eeva-Liisa Pohjola had quite challenging courses. There were lots os disqs - including us. The second course we manageg with one fault until the third last obstacle, where Kiila chose the wrong end of the tunnel.
The jumping course on Saturday  The agility course on Saturday

Congratuations, my lovely puppies! They are now half a year old!

19-20.11. Kiila in knock out competition in Jyväskylä dog show

12.11. Jolly agile puppies had a meeting, some playing and obedience was in the program for puppies and agility for the adults. The gorgeous puppies are very talented. I was so happy to meet this nice lot; they have already now many hobbies and in which they are so cabable.

21.9 Kiila is five years old. I am so happy and proud of my german lady, she is a lady with energy, wize and patient.

11.9. We are finally back to regular agility training (lessons with both of the dogs once a week), what a joy! The pictures are from our family holiday to Sevettijärvi, Lapland (northeastern corner of Finland), where we came from last weekend. More pictures from Lapland.

Flo - Kide by the summer house was he last one to leave the nest, June 23rd.

30.7 We enjoyed three days of rowing and camping in the lake district of Central Finland. The last puppy left a week ago, we had more than hundred visitors during the eight weeks. So the peaceful time by he mother nature was really needed.

9.7. Jinga had her first birthday. She is just adorable; social, active and energetic tiny  girl. Since we are in the middle of heathwave, we did not do any agility but we went to the beach. Best present for Jinga is that Kiila is finally playing with her after more than three months of pause because of the heavy load of motherhood. The puppies have experienced already the third heath wave of their lives. I am afraid they are the muddiest puppies ever.

Puppies 5 weeks, foto by Salme Mujunen

5.7. We spent one week around midsummer at the summerhouse with 4-5 weks old puppies. They enjoyed exploring the surrondings and finding a rest in the shade. Kiila and Jinga enjoyed swimming and the visitors, of course.

12.6.
Jinga was freed from her constant baby-sitting and sent to breed club show to Helsinki - she won her class junior bitches (13) under the judge Leonie Darling from Australia. Tiny Jinga! Thank you Anne and Karolinna for taking care of my precious Star Chaser! Picture above from the last week like pictures below. Puppie are already two weeks old. Since we have a very unusual heath wave, the puppies have been outside most of the daytime since Wednesday. But we are back to the normal rutines today on Sunday - weather is changing back to "normal".

4.6. What a beautiful summer day. Jinga enjoyed a long walk around the lake Köhniö and the puppies (one week old) made quite a nice pyramid this morning, they have doubled their size and they are moving a lot and fast. The puppy pictures are most frequently updated in my blog (in Finnish).

27.5. Exactly nine weeks after meeting Jaff the litter of five puppies were born. Our Fabulous Five includes two girls (both blue merle) and three boys (two tricolours) and one blue merle. The b & w boys have only a little bit of tan on their faces or legs. In the picture the boys on left and the girls on right.

14.5 We returned back to Finland. It took exactly two days from Cambridge to Helsinki; 19 hours to get to the ferry in Travemünde (12 hours of driving) and the rest just "sailing" between Germany and Finland. Kiila with her favorite water plays straight after arriving on Saturday - she has a belly:)

28.4. At least four pupies were to be seen today at the vet. We had a lovely Easter holiday in Scotland, hiking Rob Roy way (about 100 km) on six days. The sceneries were magnificient in north est from Glasgow and we were extremely lucky with the weather, too. The fotos

4.4. We had a nicewalk with our Monday agility friends Christina, Eze and and the dane Ruach, several fotos in the friends gallery. We know more about Kiila's possible puppies April 28th when visiting the vet and ultra scan.

27.3. We visited Kyle and his dad Jaff on Friday for the first time. Kyle was happy to play with Kiila but he did not have any idea what he should do with this bitch in season. So, plan B was to take Jaff on the stage and it did not take long until Kiila was mated. We had the second meeting today and then we will keep our fingers crossed and wait for the ultra sound and its results one month later. Hopefully by the end of May the first litter of Kiila will be born to Jaff, WT CH Flynntastic Red Jaff of Tarnforce - ISDS, CDex, UDex, WDex, TDex, PDex.

21.3. Kiila is now getting closer to five year old than four years, time flies! We are enjoying a beautiful spring and lovely hikes, since the paths and fields are dry again. We are also experiencing fascinating times, week ago our agility friend Eze was so keen on Kiila (two weeks earlier Kiila raised no interest in him). Last Wednesday (16.3.) I could verify that the season had really started, this  weekend we have the exiting meetings with Kyle.

2.2.2011 The nicest guy in England got his title WDex last weekend, congratulations Kyle! I received a nice description about Kyle from his owner, Kate. It is on puppies page. The picture above is from our meeting in November - Kyle tracking. Kiila has been dropping off her hair since the beginning of December, now there is no more to shed. Picture below from our long (almost 5 hours) sunny Monday walk. Only the fluffy tale is as a reminder what once has been!

9.1.2011 Jinga, Jinka, Jingalillalill, Pöljempi (the more stupid) had a half a birthday

6.1. 2011 We made a nice trip to Wales for the New Year. We rented an old farm house in the village of Login for  six days and had nice walks in the gorgeous surroundings: the coat path in Pembrokshire + hills near by our cottage. What a way to start new year!

27.12 We had a nice Christmas with beautiful sunshine. The foto above is from the Christmas Day walk. It feels like we would have had our "tiny" chaperon for ever, but it is only one month that we have been enjoying the company of Jinga.  Happy new year for all our friends! Even though we are going to stay in Login for the New Year week, I think we will not be able to log in during the week in the middle of nowhere in Wales.

12.12 We made a day trip to enjoy Norfolk coast

28.11 On Sunday we went to Warwickshere to meet the most charming candidate for Kiila for next spring. Now it is confirmed that this handsome Kyle, Kipcroft Red Kyle of Tarnforce will be the chosen one. We had the pleasure of looking at (and participating) the training of Kyle and his sister, Meg, in the training of the Leamington Dog Training Club. Wonderful dogs with their owners Kate and John Wykes. Thanks for the nice experience, it was nice to meet you, John and Kate!

Jinga with her mother Star

27.11 We drove on Saturday to snowy Derbyshire to pick up a new member for our family, lovely 20 weeks old puppy, Aculsia Star Chaser alias Jinga. She is absolutely adorable, we can see her using her head with all the new experiences she encounters.

__________________________________________________________________

13-14.11. We made a splendid two-day trip to Peak District. We had lovely, spectacular 12 mile hikes on the hills and we were stunned with all the greenness around us. On Saturday we enjoyed the meadows of Hope and Edale. On Sunday we were charmed by the more forest and mourn like hills of Goyt Valley close to Buxton. More pictures here.

12.11. We are so happy, how everything has arranged; we have been in Cambridge less than two weeks, but we have been training already twice. We have possibility to train at Redgates Agility Club with a very nice group of dogs on Sundays. The dogs are on the same level as we are, and training with this lot is lots of fun! We can also enjoy the Kaeleon training on Fridays - so we feel extremely priviledged, indeed. Today we trained with for Kaeleons: Haze, Flare, Sprite and Breeze. And afterwards seven BCs of Karen and four BCs of Claire + her labrador were having fun on the fields - quite a nice pack running together. The grass training course is something luxorious for us.

On the ferry (29 hours) between Helsinki and Travemünde

2.11. 2010

Our address will be Comberton, Cambridge until end of May. Two and half days  long journey consisting of 1100 km of sea cruising and 1100 km of car driving ended yesterday. When arriving to port we had a nice walk in Dover.

16.10. We have had snow since Monday; snow and autumn colors!

9.10. Agi competitions in Kuopio by Hukkaputki. There were lots of disqs in the second class. Unfortunately I did not lead my lovely dog precisely enough, so we took disq, on all three courses judged by Elina Hannikainen. This was our last competition for a while in Finland.

8.10. Super fast gen test results from Australia, Kiila visited the vet last week on Thursday, (the results came today,) one week later on Friday: This animal does NOT carry the known TNS mutation, This animal does NOT carry the known CL mutation on the CLN5 gene.

26.9 Finnish championship in agility for seniors in Riihimäki. We were qualified to senior championship, made a beautiful fast run, unluckily with two extra obstcacles. It was fun! Beautiful sunny weekend finally!

21.8. Kiila has today her fourth birthday!

18.8. Agility competions in Pieksämäki. Johanna Nyberg had planned nice courses to run. In the first course, Kiila dropper the first bar, and had difficulties to find the correct entry for weaving, so 10. The first course, denial and contact on A-frame! Our first (hopefully last) mistake on contacts. So, that ws also 10. Otherwise it was beautiful co-operation. In August-September I spent two weeks in Cambridge, it is going to be our home town for seven months from the beginning of November.

12.8. Kiila is in season. Now I have some kind of time window for my plans for the spring. I wish something exciting will happen next April.

8.8. Agility competions in the heath of +30C close by in Laukaa. The first course was jumping, and we made a disq because of my timing (which did not exist). For the agility course our judge Sari Mikkilä lowered the jump hights to 55 cm and there were less dropping bars. We made a really beautiful run, almost clean run. Unluckily something happened during last but one obstacle, weaves, since Kiila came out from the wrong side. Anyway we did not redo the weaves, so disq again but beautiful and fluent!

24.7. Agility competitions in Mikkeli again, judge Hannele Lummeranta had made really fluent courses, real pleasure to run. Unfortunately on the first one Kiila dropped one bar, so 5. Next course the second bar was dropped, and difficulties again in staying in the weaves, so 10. Otherwise very beautiful and fluent runs, happy:)

11.7 Agility competitions in Mikkeli. On the first run, judged by Elina Hannikainen, we had such a nice flow - really beatiful run. Unfortunately I did not lead her in one front cross carefully enough, so she took the weaves instead of swing. Next course was by Jarmo Jämsä - the flow was definetly missing, disq as well!

4.-10.7. We had a tiny holiday - went rowing on the lake district between Varkaus and Savonlinna for a week. We had super weather and Kiila swam a lot!

3.7. We visited one of the biggest agility summer events: agirotu. The happening took place close to Tampere, we competed on Saturday twice. The first run was by Sari Mikkilä, unfortunately because of unclear handling  my little Kiila thought that she knows the course. Well, she did not, but she happily made at least six disq on the same course. My darling! On the next course she did listen but she knocked one bar, got a refusal and again she came out of weaves, so 15 from the second run judged by Anne Viitanen.

June 30 Luigi the lagotto tried to teach Kiila that you can enjoy swimming and jumping in to the water also without any sticks, more fotos in Gallery. Yesterday we took part in an unofficial agility competition, organized by our club. Lots of fun. First run was clear, then pretty good with some minor faults.

June 28 We enjoyed our midsommer with friends at the summer house in Hämeenlinna. Otherwise we have been rehearsing quite regularly - good! The own yard helps!

June 13 We had three runs in Kuopio. I am happy with my handling. The first course was jumping by Savikko, disq (false end of the tunnel, only the correct end was calling, Kiila also dropped two bars). Second course was nice agility one of Tienhaara, unluckily we missed a jump (or two) leading us to a disq. in the middle of the course - otherwise beautiful run. The third run was also Savikko's course. He said that while the competitors did not have success on his easy jumping course, we (the competitors) will show how we manage the more difficult one. For some reason only three dogs got results on this run, we having the only clean run, so we won with the result -12.66!

June 5 We visited Stadi Games (picture above), Agility Competion in Helsinki, on Saturday. It was nice to visit old neighbourhood after 20 years and Stadi Games after 12 years. We did finally well. The results were 10 and 5. On the first run very good run, we just missed the beginning of the weaving and hurried out too soon (like so many else on that run). The second run was more tricky with lots of false ends of tunnels calling, we made a beautiful run. Alas, one of the last bars was knocked down when hurrying Kiila to the correct entrance of the tunnel. It is so nice to be happy with own handling (after Oulu disaster).

May 24 This is how our garden looks at the moment with some nice young doggy friends:

May 2-23 Agility competitions in Oulu. Mainly disaster after disaster. I was still nervous about Kiila on the starting line. On Saturday nice courses by Anders Virtanen, Kiila listened but unluckily she did not get any good handling: disq and 10. On Sunday nice courses again, this time by Minna Jokisaari. Kiila did not get instructions fast enough, so she was already somewhere where she should not have been on both courses, so 2 x disq.

May 16th Agility competions in Jyväskylä, nice courses planned by Sari Mikkola. Unluckily our three runs were more like disaster, Kiila broke her starts - we had 2 disqs and 11,...

May 9th We got great news from Germany: Kiila's sister, Hazel with Susanne Nieder, was qualified for team Germany for the Agility World Championship 2010!!! We are so proud that the sister has such a talented handler! Thank you Susanne, for the foto!

Hazel, Foto by Susanne Nieder

In this foto Kiila's mother, Cheeky, with the rest of the litter ("replacing Kiila"), when the A-litter was 11 months old. Foto is taken by Cathrin Ziebart, the breeder. Kiila and Hazel were the only girls in the litter, the balck and whites are prick eared, while the colorful puppies got the flying ears of their mum.

25th April Yesterday we competed in class 2 for the first time, in an agility competition in Helsinki. We showed all how unqualified we are by getting twice disc, though we enjoyed every single meter on our course. The first disc came because of the false end of the tunnel was calling Kiila, something I did not expect to happen. The second disc came when Kiila did not jump thought the tire (just next to it) it was the last but second jump to do! Before I noticed what happened, she had already taken the last jump as well. She had dropped one bar on each course, so the dis was not that bad. She really flew over the course with such an perfect attitude - it was really fun.

Lately the snow has almost completly gone so we have enjoyed the garden agility besides the last piles of snow.

March 28 - April 4th For the Easter week we had a lovely family holiday in Lapland. We drove from Oulu past Rovaniemi, 50 km north from Salla to the tiny village of Naruska, where we rented an old house in the middle of nowhere. Naruska lies on the eastern border of Finland and was a lovely place for skiing since there were really good outdoor routes quite close to "our house". Every day we did excursions of three to four hours with our skis to nearby mountains. The snow was so soft that there was no going in the forest without the skis. The snow mobile tracks made the cross country skiing comfortable and enjoyable. Such a nice holiday! In my Finnish blog there is picture of reindeer and the finish spits that was visiting us daily.

March 27th We made a clear run in agility competition in Oulu. We won our class and from now on we will compete in class 2. I bought a new camara last week, there are some new pics in Friends/2010 gallery.

March 7th We did some garden agility in the sunshine, even though there is not too much space, we are able to create tiny sequences, great! Greatest challenge is to lead the way for Kiila  also after the last obstacle.

This week I have been guide three times in our forest, we have introduced the tracks for our friends. They have appreciated it. Today we had the sunshine on our guiding tour.

February 28th We have been able to join some weekly agility training, plus some extra courses a bit further from Jyväskylä. It has been lots of fun. Yesterday we participated in the training of kerryblue terriers. It was such a joy to do a long courses with lots of space.

Ferburary 14th This weekend I enjoyed the sun on when walking in the forest.

Kiila´s magnificient tail

February 11th. We visited the vet today to make sure that there are no puppies coming. Even though there were some signs about the puppies in Kiila, there was nothing to be seen in her belly. Well, we restart our training season today. And we have exiting plans for next spring about the litter of Kiila.

January 31st. At last the temperature rose above -10. Besides having a long walk in the forest we were able to enjoy playing in the garden a little bit.

January 30th We had our first agility training this year. It was so nice, we both enjoyed it - it was so much fun. Besides the agilility also the environment was perfect - we trained indoors in a warm hall - real luxus. Beforehand I was worried about Kiila being too enthuastic - but she was just perfect. She listened to me so nicely! Really a perfect start for a new training season.

January 19th No puppies this year.  Unfortunately, nothing at all happened between these two young dogs.

January 16th For the first time I saw Pommi in daylight and could take some outside pictures

More pictures in the Gallerie/Friends/2010

January 13th Onni left and Pommi arrived (these pictures are from Pommis owner Seija Ahola)

January 9th Onni the male dog came for a visit!

The pictures are from the Sunday walk in the mearby forest.

January 4th Life is so short - twelve years with the grand old lady Minzi - is gone. She was such a good friend - good and wise. We miss her badly.

In Helsinki (with brother Chico visiting) In Heidelberg (the trio for 6 years)
In Oulu (she really loved this sport from the very first moment). In Jyväskylä New years day 2010

January 2nd  Agility competition in Hyvinkää, organised by JAU

Two nice courses, designed by Ritva Herrala and Elp. Such a good runs, unfortunately the handler was a bit too sleepy. First run we got DIS (twice) because handler did not give any hints where to go, so poor Kiila did not guess the right choice. Second run: handler was so proud when she could manage a tricky beginning. So she missed completly the following jump by knocking it over and falling herself. When we came a bit later back to the knocked bar, Kiila was not guided to come througt the jump witj´hout bar - so only then we did get Disqualified. Otherwise it was real pleasure to be running (unlike in Jyväskylä a month earlier)

2009

Christmas Day walk

December 27 Finally activities! Today we we were able to join agility training (only once in December because of the persistent kennel cough). It was so much fun! There were eight of us training in the big, soft ground of the horse arena. Kiila and I really enjoyed the long agility course and the space we had for ourselves.
We have had perfect Christmas; the best family, happyness and joy around us + the marvellous Christmas food.
I added one foto taken one weeek before the very naked Kiila of the Jyväskylä BC show, down there on Nov. 13.

December 9 Minzi has started coughing as well. She has also again problems with her bowels and vetenerian gives her antibiotics and pain killers. Next  day I can not find the pain killers - Kiila has stolen from the table (stealing first time in her life).

November 30. Kiila starts coughing - she has kennel cough. She coughs a lot and has fever, I guess the fewer came because I did not notice her cough early enough and did not give her enough rest.

November 28. Agility competition in Jyväskylä (Laukaa), judge Sisko Pulkkinen
Course A dis - Kiila started before permission - full catastrophe
Course B 10 - weaving, fault - the poor handler was lost far too much

November 22. Finnish Border Collie and Australian Kelpie club organized a special show for these breeds within the International Show in Jyväskylä. There were 75 BC, naked Kila beeing one of them. Anyway she did get EH, very good in open class, judge Meg Purnell-Carpenter, UK
3 years, feminine head, upright in shoulder, lacking angulation, good topline, lacking coat, a little erratic in movement

Foto by Laura Raudaskoski

November 14. Agility competition in Varkaus, judge Harri Huittinen
Course A 5 - Hastily made turning on broad jump (because the wrong end of tunnel was calling) -pl. 3rd.
Course b 10 - The first bar, missing the contact on too fast seesaw

November 13 - one week to lose hair for the Jyväskylä BC show

November 13 Do I really need to stand here and look at nowhere?  One more week to lose the hair for the BC show in Jyväskylä.

October 17-18. 4 agility courses in Oulu. Our best competition ever! Second clear round for us.
On Saturday the judge was Eeva-Liisa Pohjanen
Course A dis - I lost my dog twice, the second time making the dis - otherwise fast and good
Course B 5 - One hastely made turning, resulting one dropped bar - otherwise perfect - placement 3rd.
On Sunday Vesa Jalonen
Course C 5 - again the weaving - acting too hastely (+ lost twice) - placement 1st
Course D 0 - beautiful course except the slalom after chute, Kiila asking forever where to go - pl. 2nd

October 4. Kiila made Finnish character test in Korpilahti, judges Irene Puputti and Katri Leikola.
Her character was judged on eight fields with the grades from -3 to +3. The fields had different coefficients from 1 to35, total of these being 300.
Ability to operate +1
Keennes +1
Inclination to defense +1
Inclination to fight +3
Nervous structure +1
Temperament +3
Hardness +1
Approachability +1
Also the reactions towards shooting were tested; unused to shots.
Kiila passed the test with 150 points, which is close the avarege for Finnish BCs

September 29 I received the kennel name Jolly Agile.
